COMMUNITY groups within the Lismore Local Government Area are being invited to apply for grants of up to $5000 through the state's ClubGRANTS program.

The program is funded by clubs through the NSW Registered Clubs Gaming Tax and groups are selected to receive the grants by a local panel including representatives from the Lismore and District Workers Club, Lismore City Council, NSW Council of Social Service and the Department of Community Services.Lismore City Council community services coordinator Annie McWilliam said a grant could make a big difference to a small club.

"The Category 1 funding is for specific local community priorities such as community welfare and social services, community development, community health services and employment assistance activities," she said.

"We know from experience that small projects can often have a big reach and impact in our local communities. People should seriously consider applying for these grants if they have a small project they wish to get up and running."

Community groups in the Lismore Local Government Area that fit within the guidelines for Category 1 applications as outlined in ClubGRANTS Guidelines are eligible to apply.

Guidelines are available from ClubsNSW website and applications can be submitted online through the council.

Applications close on Wednesday, April 8 at 4.00pm.

Phone Annie McWilliam on 1300 878 387 for details.
