Grant lightens load on lantern parade organisers

CASH to help cover cost of renovating new lantern-making workshop.

JYLLIE Jackson was feeling a little brighter with the announcement of a $5000 grant to help renovate the Lismore Lantern Parade’s new headquarters in Keen St.

The grant, delivered by Minister for the Arts Mitch Fifield and Page MP Kevin Hogan, will help with fire mitigation to comply with council regulations.

Ms Jackson welcomed the grant, saying that event organisers were always looking for assistance.

“The lantern parade brings $3.8 million into the town,” Ms Jackson said.

“We are on track for the parade. We need more help in the workshop – preparing. There is a lot of work to do.

“Ticket sales for the Fiery Finale is our main source of income.”
