A proposed five-stage, 92-lot subdivision for Goonellabah is back on exhibition at Lismore City Council.
The 12.5 hectare site at 805 and 811 Ballina Rd has a 247-metre frontage and backs onto Tucki Tucki Creek.
Council rejected the proposal in 2021 citing the impact on the natural and built environment, suitability of the site for the development, and the public interest. But that decision was successfully appealed and council approved the development in March last year.
Now the developers want some modifications to the project - bringing it back for public submission.
The site will comprise 51 Torrens title lots and 41 community title lots varying in size from 524 to 1500 square metres.
The original estimated cost of the works was put at $5.9m, but the modifications sought by the developers will blow that out to $7.6m.
Modifications to the plan include slight adjustments to stormwater, internal road 2 and open drains, the allotment layout, individual lots sizing adjustments, Holland St to De Re Dr paths and parking arrangements and some offsetting.
Developers said these changes won’t alter the nature of the project and it will remain substantially the same as the approved development and council should support the proposal.
The project will involve associated earthworks, civil infrastructure (new roads, footpaths, stormwater drainage and essential services), acoustic barriers/walls, demolition of existing house, tree removal and revegetation/landscaping works.
Lismore councillor Darlene Cook has expressed support for the development saying the addition of 92 new building lots to the city’s housing stock released over five stages is in the public interest.
