The health of a Kyogle man charged with murdering a fellow resident in his 70s has been by brought into question, a Lismore court has heard.

Kyogle resident Glenn Raymond Trinne, 55, was not required to appear from custody when his matter was mentioned in Lismore Local Court on Wednesday.

Mr Trinne is charged with murdering Graham Priestley, a man in his 70s, in his Curtois St unit between Anzac Day and April 26.

Emergency services were called to the Kyogle unit after Mr Priestley was found inside however paramedics were unable to revive him.

Mr Trinne was later arrested at Summerland Way.

Solicitor Nicole McLennan told the court Mr Trinne had a fitness issue that had to be resolved before her firm could take instructions from the accused.

The court also heard that the prosecution was still awaiting the autopsy results and forensic reports to file a brief.

Magistrate Michael Dakin adjourned all three matters for mention on September 14 at Lismore Local Court.
