Free tip day for Lismore residents

ANYONE in the Lismore local government area in the mood for clearing out the garage will get the chance to unload on the council’s free tip day.

ANYONE in the Lismore local government area in the mood for clearing out the garage, the cupboards and maybe even the backyard, save the date for the council's free tip day to be held on Sunday, May 20 from 9am to 4pm.

Lismore City Council's Waste Operations Coordinator, Kevin Trustum, said he was looking forward to giving people the opportunity to have a clean out.

"The rules are pretty simple, just bring along your rates notice or licence to show you live in the Lismore City Council area, and you qualify," Mr Trustum said.

"For those people coming along, we would like to encourage them to help us divert waste from landfill by keeping scrap metal, timber, green waste, household items and other recyclables separate.

"Also, no commercial quantities of chemicals, no asbestos and no truck/tractor tyres will be allowed into the tip on the day and no more than 12 car tyres will be allowed in one load."

The free tip day will be held at the Recycling and Recovery Centre, at East Lismore.
