RICHMOND River County Council staff are at work today on a section of the levee wall behind The Lismore Club that was eroded by the weekend's rain.
Council's Floodplain Services Manager Michael Wood said the erosion of approximately three tonnes of earth and grass occurred on a section of the levee wall that was being repaired after being damaged in the 2009 flood.
Mr Wood said council staff have installed agricultural piping in the damaged section to prevent the rain eroding the same section of levee again.
Once the $2.2 million restoration of the levee, which was funded by natural disaster funding, is complete, Mr Wood said native trees would be planted along the levee to help stabilise the area.
