Firefighters, paramedics and police attend house fire in Byron Bay
Emergency services including firefighters from four fire stations are at the scene of a house fire in Byron Bay.

UPDATE: 5.30pm
Firefighters have extinguished a blaze in a building in Byron Bay.
Fire and Rescue Duty Commander Gary White praised the efforts of all the firefighters who attended.
He said the fire occurred on the upper level of a two level townhouse in Browning Street.
“Firefighters from Byron Bay and Bangalow have managed to extinguish the fire and contain the fire to its point of origin which was a bedroom,” he said.
“Everyone is safely evacuated from the building.
“The cause of the fire is still being investigated.”
Mr White said Browning Street would remain closed east of the Bangalow Road roundabout until about 6.30pm.
Mr White said Fire and Rescue crews from Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads, Bangalow and Goonellabah Hazmat attended the fire.
“We were also assisted by Rural Fire Service Byron Bay,” he said.
“Our Fire and Rescue incident controller also did an excellent job.”
UPDATE 5.15pm:
A structure fire in Browning Street, Byron Bay has been causing traffic chaos at a busy roundabout.
The blaze is near the corner of Bangalow Road and popular cafe Bay Grocer.
Emergency services remain at the scene.

Emergency services are at the scene of a roaring house fire in Byron Bay on Monday afternoon.
According to Fire and Rescue NSW, retained firefighters from Byron Bay, Bangalow and Brunswick Heads fire stations were alerted to the fire at 8/17-21 Browning St, Byron Bay, around 3.51pm on Monday May 24, 2021.
It is understood a Rural Fire Service crew from Byron Bay are also at the structure fire which is being managed by a Fire and Rescue NSW incident controller. .
As of 4.10pm, the structure fire was still listed on FireNearMe as uncontrolled.
Ambulance NSW confirmed they had been tasked to the incident shortly before 4pm.
However, Ambulance NSW said the paramedics on scene had no patients at this stage.
It is understood that police are also at the incident.
