Feathery and cute was on show at the North Coast National

North Coast National on Friday saw all things feathery, cute and fluffy as our photographer Cathy Adams found out.

"IT'S in your blood," was the response from Jeff Thompson when asked why he started showing poultry.

"I've been around shows all my life," he said.

"My father showed pigs, and I've shown poultry now for 50 years... and I still love it."

The Lismore man was showing poultry at the North Coast National for only the second time this year, moving from Tamworth two years ago, and has already tasted success - taking out the Champion Soft Feather Large Bird Pair with his white leghorn breeding pair.

A lot of work has gone into preparing the poultry for show Mr Thompson said.

"It takes ten days before the show," he said.

"Washing them and cleaning their legs, especially the white ones."

The show also saw many young children finding an appreciation for animals.

Georgia Mulcahy, 7 of Urbenville, was a fan of the goats and baby lambs.

"I like the animals... I think my favourite animal would be a goat and little lamb because they were nibbling my fingers, oh, and the guinea pigs."

Lucy Barker-Schafer, 9 of Goolmangar also liked the animals best.

Her favourite?

"I like all the animals... I can't choose a favourite," she said.

What I like about the show
