A van has rolled in a single vehicle crash in the north of the state, but the occupants have managed to escape largely unharmed.

Emergency services were called to Bentley Rd, Bentley just after midday as reports came in a van had rolled on its side in the crash about 25km northwest of Lismore.

Witnesses reported to have seen the van, fitted with a baby seat, on its side on the Lismore side of Hewitt’s dairy.

It appeared all occupants of the van managed to exit the vehicle before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.

Two ambulance crews rushed to help and one remained on site for some time after the crash, while the other set off for Lismore.

The driver of the van declined to be assessed by first responders, a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.

Police confirmed just after 2pm that all occupants avoided serious injury.

Northern Rivers man Craig Armstrong said Richmond Valley Council had been filling potholes in the area, but work was irregular.

Another local, who declined to be named, said: “This road to Lismore is a disgrace. Roadwork signs still out even though no work for over a year. Wrong coloured or faded signs. Pothole repairs that borders on the dangerous.”

The council will be contacted about the ongoing repairs and condition of the road. It is not suggested it contributed to Tuesday’s crash.

More to come.
