Emergency services called to two-car crash on Bangalow Road at Howards Grass
Emergency crews had been “thinking worst case scenario” when they were driving to the incident on Bangalow Road, and now they’re urging people to take extra care on our roads.

Update: 11.50am: A woman has been taken to hospital after a two-car crash on Bangalow Road.
Three Ambulance NSW crews, along with a specialist medical team including a critical care paramedic and critical care doctor, were dispatched to the scene.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was also tasked to attend the crash, but it was not required and returned to base.
Upon arrival, paramedics treated a woman for suspected abdomen injuries and she was transported to Lismore Base Hospital by road in a stable condition.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Michael Edwards said emergency services driving to the incident had been “thinking of the worst case scenario”.
“On arrival the woman was trapped, Police Rescue did a fantastic job extricating her while we provided ongoing treatment,” he said.
“These type of accidents can turn to critical incidents so quickly.
“We encourage everyone to please be careful on and around our roads especially with the long weekend ahead.”
Update, 11.30am: The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter has been tasked to the crash on Bangalow Road at Howards Grass.
A spokesman from NSW Ambulance said the chopper was expected to land on site shortly.
Bangalow Road is now closed in both directions.
According to Live Traffic NSW, southbound diversions are via Richmond Hill Road and Bruxner Highway.
Northbound diversions are via Donnans Rd, Newell Hwy and Richmond Hill Road.
Heavy vehicles are being turned around to travel via Lismore.
Original story: Traffic is affected in both directions after a two-car crash on Bangalow Road near Lismore.
A spokesman from NSW Ambulance said three crews had been called to the crash, which happened just after 10.30am at Howards Grass.
“It’s early days at the moment, but the single patient in one of the cars appears fine, however we’re assessing a female in the second car,” he said.
“We’re not sure on the extent of her injuries at this stage, and whether there are any other patients.”
Live Traffic NSW reports that emergency services and local council workers are at the scene.
Drivers should reduce their speed and exercise caution in the area.
