Drop-in session for those who live near Lismore Base

RESIDENTS who live close to Lismore Base Hospital have been invited to attend a community drop-in session and have their say on a Discussion Paper detailing proposed planning control changes.

RESIDENTS who live close to Lismore Base Hospital have been invited to attend a community drop-in session and have their say on a Discussion Paper detailing proposed planning control changes.

Over the last two years, Lismore City Council has undertaken a widespread consultation on the Lismore Health Precinct involving local residents, the Northern NSW Local Health District, the University Centre for Rural Health, state departments, developers and real estate agents.

One outcome is a Discussion Paper that recommends planning control changes to facilitate a health services hub with medium density accommodation for health service workers as well as to provide higher density, centrally located housing for residents.

The Discussion Paper details measures to encourage additional medical practices and health support services such as radiology clinics; stimulate additional residential accommodation suitable for interns, specialists and medical students; and encourage higher housing density to enable more people to reside close to health services, the Lismore Shopping Square and the CBD.

Residents living within the Lismore Health Precinct are invited to have their say on the Discussion Paper between February 20 and March 28, 2015.

Landowners will receive an invitation to the drop-in session with planners Newton Denny Chapelle in order to gain a full understanding of proposed changes and their potential impact. All residents are also welcome.

The drop-in session is on Saturday, March 14, at the University Centre for Rural Health from 10.30am to 1.30pm.
