MODANVILLE locals look at Dunoon Rd with despair - especially between Tullera Hall and Modanville School.

After the latest rain about 50 dangerous potholes have been marked by anonymous neighbours trying to alert motorists to the threat.

Modanville local Lorelle, who asked for her surname not be printed, said: "We expected the road to be fixed now that the kids are back to school, but that has not happened."

Lismore City Council works manager Darren Patch said the council was "aware" of the condition of the road north of Tullera and pothole repairs were scheduled to be done within the next two days.

"That section of road is also programmed for full reconstruction during 2013/14 financial year, with the $380,000 required to rebuild 400m of road being jointly funded by Roads and Maritime Services and Council," he said.

Mr Patch said the recent poor weather had not helped.

"Significant weather events such as what we have experienced recently always have a big impact on road networks." he said.

"Our preliminary investigations of the 1200km local government area road network indicate the repair costs could be as high as $3 million.

"Much of that damage is expected to qualify for natural disaster relief funding with that decision to be made by the State Government.

"Council is completing an inspection of the entire network and will then compile a flood claim to be submitted to the RMS in the next three to four weeks."

Residents with concerns about road conditions could phone Lismore City Council on 1300 878 387.
