A DRAFT masterplan for a transformed Lismore health precinct encircling Lismore Base Hospital will be publicly unveiled at Lismore City Council chambers tomorrow night.

Tomorrow's presentation will follow three days of discussions currently underway between stakeholders including hospital staff and management, local residents, council staff and developers.

Headlining the changes will be the $80 million first phase of the Lismore Base Hospital Stage 3 redevelopment, which will include a new and expanded Emergency Department, helipad, and additional ward space.

Lismore City Council's Director of Sustainable Development Brent McAlister said the three day planning workshop was intended to outline a broad plan for future development around the hospital, identifying solutions to existing issues such as traffic and parking.

Mr McAlister also noted Council's interest in pursuing medium density housing development in the hospital's vicinity.

"The residential part is triggered out of Council's recently adopted Housing Strategy where we are actively looking for areas close to the CBD to intensify for greater housing choice," said Mr McAlister.

"Both the hospital and the residential part of joint issues around parking, traffic, hence the need for a joint workshop."

The public meeting will begin at 6:30pm at Lismore Council Chambers in Goonellabah.
