Donor gives Anderson a $1000 boost

AN ANONYMOUS North Coast resident has dug deep to help out invalid pensioner Christine Anderson.

Lismore council sold Ms Anderson's home last year to satisfy an unpaid rates bill, but the Supreme Court ruled the sale was illegal.

Ms Anderson was able to stay in her home, but she's still struggling to pay a rates bill of $11,700 and interest totalling $5084.

The anonymous resident read about Ms Anderson's plight and decided to give her a boost by donating $1000.

Incredibly, the reader had just received the money in the mail.

"It was bizarre because I paid a friend's rent nine years ago. Then last week I got a call from the Post Office because the girl had tracked me down and put $1000 in the registered mail for me," the reader explained.

The reader decided Ms Anderson needed the money more than she did.

"I thought it's money I didn't have and won't miss so I will pay it forward," the reader said.

"Your home is your castle and there's nothing more stressful than losing it. So hopefully this will spur someone else into helping her out."
