Lismore City councillors settled on the CSG question for the optional poll at the upcoming coming election.

"DO you support coal seam gas (CSG) exploration and production in the Lismore City Council area?"

That is the question voters will have the opportunity to answer in conjunction with the September 8 local government election.

Lismore City councillors settled on the question for the optional poll at last night's ordinary meeting after workshopping it with Southern Cross University academics to find the most neutral wording.

Also, the Lismore Neighbourhood Centre is considering purchasing the premises it currently leases from Lismore City Council on Bounty St to secure its future.

Council resolved to advertise for expressions of interest for the sale or lease of the property and to advise the centre of this move.

Councillors supported a council staff recommendation that taking the property through an open expression of interest process would test the market and allow the centre to officially engage with council in the process, if it is interested in purchasing the property.
