Council seeks feedback on draft plans

LISMORE City Council is giving community members the opportunity to give feedback on the draft Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan and Cycleway Plan for Lismore

LISMORE City Council is providing community members with an opportunity to provide feedback on the draft Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (PAMP) and Cycleway Plan for Lismore urban areas, with both documents being placed on public exhibition this week.

The draft Plans have been cooperatively developed and reviewed in conjunction with Council’s draft Sport and Recreation Plan to ensure continuity across Council’s pedestrian, cyclist and recreational programs.

According to Lismore City Council’s Road Safety Project Officer Danielle McAtee, the PAMP aims to create safe, convenient and accessible pedestrian networks for the whole community, with a particular focus on improving access for people with mobility impairment.

“This is a review of the original PAMP document which was developed in 2003, and builds upon the existing Works Program, providing a prioritised outline of works to be carried out over the next four years”, Ms McAtee said.

“Information provided by the community during the initial consultation phase of this review was vital in identifying locations where facilities could be enhanced to create a better outcome for all pedestrians.”

The draft Cycleway Plan is a review of the Cycleway Strategy Plan which was initially developed in 2007. It aims to create a functional network that caters for both commuter and recreational cyclists with a focus on developing a simplified, prioritised Works Program.

“As part of the review we have developed a series of maps which will provide the community with a clear visual representation of how the cycleway network looks now, and how it will look in the future,” Ms McAtee said.

“These plans assist in building footpath and cycleway networks within the Lismore area which will benefit community members, so we are keen to hear what Lismore has to say.”

Both Plans can be viewed by visiting Council’s website www.lismore.nsw.gov.auand selecting ‘Have Your Say’.  Hard copies can be viewed at the Lismore City Council Corporate Centre, Goonellabah or the Lismore City Council CBD Office on Magellan Street, Lismore.
