STICKING with tradition, St Luke's Church opened its doors to visitors at the weekend, who came to view the floral displays and browse the outdoor stalls.

Perusing the church creations was Brisbane mother-daughter duo Tess and Sasha Paterson.

"We've come to see the flower festival - my mum loves to come to Toowoomba so I thought I would come along with her and spend a mother daughter day," Miss Paterson said.

"Everything has been spectacular, there's plenty of colour and people and I think it's a great thing for Toowoomba.

"The flower displays in here have captured the character of the church."

Ms Paterson said there was a personal story behind their visit.

"My late mum used to come every year to the Carnival from Kingaroy," Ms Paterson said.

"This was where she would love to spend one or two hours - it was her favourite.

"I can understand why she loved it."

Ms Paterson said she had been to the carnival many times, but this was the first trip in for her daughter.

"Everything seems under control and everyone's having a good time," Miss Paterson said.

"It's nice to see what's happening in our local area rather than travelling interstate of overseas at this time of year.

"It's special to come celebrate Queensland"
