HUNDREDS of visitors converged on the Garden City this weekend, for the start of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.

Families enjoyed a stroll in Queens Park on Saturday, snapping pictures among the flowers as the weather cleared.

While many were there to marvel at nature, some came to remember and reflect.

Redlands Bay mum Elizabeth Oliveri said she visited the carnival each year in memory of her grandparents, who had once lived close to the park.

"My grandparents, who have now passed, grew up here and got married," Ms Oliveri said.

"It's nice to get dressed up and get milestone photos in a place where we have history,"

"There are beautiful flowers this year and a great turn out, each year that we come back it's always changing."
