Community Panels need your voice

COMMUNITY Planning Days as part of Lismore City Council’s Community Panels project are coming up in March and April.

COMMUNITY Planning Days as part of Lismore City Council's Community Panels project are coming up in March and April.

Held in the 'South' locality, this will include the communities of South Lismore, Loftville, Caniaba, McKees Hill, Tatham, Ruthven, East Coraki and South Gundurimba.

Council is calling on residents from these areas to attend one of two upcoming Community Planning Days where residents will be asked to share their aspirations and ideas for community improvements and events.

Council will use the feedback to create a Community Plan detailing actions for the future, and staff will return to the community to gauge whether the plan meets expectations, Partnering and Community Engagement Officer Flora Zigterman said.

"Once this Community Plan is finalised, we will then establish a Community Panel of local people to oversee the implementation of these projects and events," Flora said.

As part of the Community Panels project, Council split the Local Government Area into seven localities.

The 'South' locality is the sixth that staff will visit, with an aim to have Community Plans in place for all seven localities by June 2016.

Residents from the communities listed above are invited to attend one of the following Community Planning Days:
