A COMMUNITY Christmas party will be held at the Goonellabah Soccer Club tomorrow as part of an effort to bring
the Goonellabah community together and forge stronger bonds between residents.
A spokeswoman for Lismore City Council said the community celebration was a joint initiative of the YWCA and Lismore City Council as part of the Goonellabah Community Plan, which aims to promote reconciliation in positive and affirming ways.
"What better way to get people together than at Christmas time with something fun and free for the whole family," Lismore City Council youth and community development officer Lizette Twisleton said.
"Sometimes spending time together chatting and sharing food is the best way to change attitudes and foster good relationships. It's simple but effective. We're all looking forward to a fun day tomorrow."
The community Christmas party will be held at the Goonellabah Soccer Club on Friday, December 14, from 3.30pm to 6pm with lots of entertainment for all ages including a visit from Santa (who will arrive on a fire truck) plus performances by the YWCA playgroup and Kadina High School choir.
Western Australian singer Kerrianne Cox will sing live and there will also be face painters, My Bumsqueak the clown and a jumping castle, plus a free BBQ and Christmas hamper draws.
