KAIASH Ricketts witnessed art come to life at his preschool's exhibition in Goonellabah recently.

While talking about his artwork, a piece depicting him having a tea party with his yet-to-be born sister, the news came through from his dad that his sister, Charlotte, had been born.

An elated Kaiash admitted "she won't be able to play, though, until she's about one or two".

The artworks, purchased by the five year old's grandmother, were part of a body of work created by Care-Ring Children's Centre's students to raise money for the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.

Centre director Tammy Everingham said it was a great activity that had brought the community together.

"The children were really excited to do the work," she said. "They are also really excited to have their families here for the exhibition.

"We have been talking about the helicopter and what they do, and someone from the service will visit us to receive the money raised."

In the meantime, Kaiash will be getting to know his new, real-life sister.
