Casino teen charged with alleged sexual abuse

Police allege a 63-year-old woman was woken and sexually abused by a 14-year-old boy who had broken into a home in the state’s north.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with sexual abuse after an alleged break-in at a Northern Rivers home.

Police were called to reports a 63-year-old woman was sexually abused by an unknown person who had broken into Casino home, just before 3am on Thursday.

Police were told the woman was asleep in bed when a male entered her bedroom and threatened and sexually abused her, before fleeing through the back door.

A crime scene was established, and the woman was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment where she underwent a sexual assault investigation kit.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested during a raid at a Casino home about 9.45pm on Thursday.

Detectives seized various items relevant to the investigation, which will undergo forensic examination.

The boy was taken to Casino Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence while people were at home, and two counts of sexually touch another person without consent.

He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Friday.
