Casino police appeal to find ute driver who allegedly made unwanted approach to children

Police are searching for a mystery ute driver who allegedly approached two children in the Northern Rivers region and fled when they called for a family member.

Police are searching for a ute driver who allegedly made an unwanted approach to two young children.

The incident occurred about 7.50am on Monday when a ute allegedly pulled up beside a six-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl who were walking to a bus stop located at the intersection of Frederick and Sandilands streets in the northern NSW town of Casino.

An unidentified male driver of the vehicle allegedly asked the children if they wanted a lift prompting them to call out to a family member.

The vehicle, which was described as a dark grey dual cab utility with a bull bar, then sped off.

Police believe the vehicle may have been a 2012-2018 Ford Ranger PX model and the driver was described as being of Asian appearance.

To aid the search police have released CCTV images of a vehicle seen in the area at the time.
