A new megastore beloved by tradies is bringing jobs and a massive product range to Lismore.
Sydney Tools will open its 25th store in NSW and 51st in Australia when the Lismore store on the Bruxner Highway officially starts trading on May 20, 2021.
Founding director Jason Bey said initially the firm was looking to employ 14 people across a variety of roles in the 1800 sqm store, which will carry around $3 million worth of stock across 19,500 product lines.
Mr Bey, 35, said he was very excited about the company being able to offer employment opportunities.
“We are looking for sales people who are familiar with our tools as well as people to work in visual merchandising, operations and storeman roles,” he said.
“However, we are very interested in character and our approach is to hire on attitude and skill the right people up.
“So if someone is keen they should get in touch.”
Mr Bey founded Sydney Tools with his brother and father in 2001 and it is considered the second-largest industrial power tool and accessory retail specialist in Australia, with annual sales of more than $220 million.
Sydney Tools is also thought to represent about 15 per cent of the $1.5 billion trade power tools market in Australia.
Mr Bey said as one of Australia’s largest wholesaler and retailer for industrial tools, consumables and accessories for almost 20 years, their sales data showed Lismore was an ideal location to open a store.
“We have seen from people who shop at our Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie stores as well as online sales data that we have lots of customers in Lismore, Byron and Casino,” he said.
“So we have made a big commitment to the local community to come here and have taken out a long-term lease of around $2.5 million over seven years.”
Mr Bey said the Northern Rivers was a go-ahead region with a strong future.
“There is a lot of work going on and coming up in the Lismore area,” he said.
“At Sydney Tools we are very confident of our business offering in terms of service, range and pricing for our professional and trade customers,” he said.
And the town can expect a party when the Lismore shop opens on May 20, 2021, Mr Bey said.
“We will have giveaways and red hot sales deals on the day,” he said.
”It will be a great opening with lots of activities.”
Mr Bey said people interested n learning about career opportunities with the business can do so via jobs@sydneytools.com.au, theirwebsite or social media.
