Bruxner highway crash: truck, car crash near Lismore leaves woman dead

A horror crash between a truck and two cars has closed the highway in northern NSW where a woman has died.

A woman believed to be in her 50s has died in a multi-vehicle crash near Lismore.

At around 12.15pm on Wednesday, emergency services were called to the scene at Gundurimba near the Loftville Bridge about 7km southwest of Lismore, after a southbound Mazda 2 hatchback and a northbound truck and trailer collided head-on.

A third vehicle, a Mazda CX-7 also travelling south, sustained minor damage as a result of the crash but the driver was not injured.

The man driving the truck was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries, before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

The Bruxner Highway is closed in both directions, with diversions at Caniaba and Coraki roads.

Firefighters from Lismore Fire and Rescue NSW are assisting Police Rescue and NSW Ambulance officers to free a seriously injured female driver from the car.

Police commenced CPR on the female driver of the car, unfortunately however, she died at the scene.

The woman is yet to be formally identified.

Traffic is closed in both directions with southbound traffic being diverted along Caniaba Road.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A spokesman from the NSW Ambulance service said paramedics treated a man in his 30s, a boy in his teens and another woman.
