THE damage bill for repairs to Country Energy infrastructure after last week's tornado at Lennox Head is expected to reach about $200,000.
Spokesman Mike Hely said the damage was mainly confined to the service lines going into homes.
“There was also a transformer which was badly damaged at the Lake Ainsworth Caravan Park,” he said.
“But there was little damage to the power poles. Most of the damage was caused bydebris hitting the powerlines.”
Mr Hely said the cost of repairs to the infrastructure had been factored into Country Energy's budget.
“We do budget for severe weather events,” he said.
“Last year's storms caused more damage to our infrastructure than this tornado.”
The transformer at the caravan park exploded and leaked hazardous oil, requiring a Hazmat team to be called in to clean up.
More than 1200 homes were left without electricity after the tornado hit Lennox Head last Thursday.
Country Energy teams were quickly on the scene to assess homes and reconnect power as it became safe.
