Ballinas Bounty of food and wine

RAIN, hail or shine, the inaugural Ballina Bounty festival will go ahead as planned tomorrow.

RAIN, hail or shine, the inaugural Ballina Bounty festival will go ahead as planned tomorrow.

Chairman of the event, Milton Colburt, said he hoped about 1000 people would turn up to enjoy the good food and fine wine that would be on offer.

“We’re aiming for about 1000 people, but we’re catering for 1500 just in case,” he said.

“We think that would be pretty good, considering it’s the first time we’ve held Ballina Bounty.

“We’re really looking forward to the day.

“Everything’s pretty much organised now and ready to go, and we do have wet weather options, but it looks like the weather will be good to us.”

The festival, which is being held at the Ballina Jockey Club from midday to 4pm tomorrow, has been organised by theRotary Club of Ballina-on-Richmond.

And like most Rotary events, it’s an important fundraiser.

Money collected on the day will gotowards Rotary International’s Polio Plus campaign, which aims to eradicate polio right across the world.

Mr Colburt said Ballina Bounty was an opportunity for the entire Northern Rivers community to play its part in achieving that ‘impressive milestone’.

Local restaurants, cafes, food distributors and farmers will offer free food samples, and wineries will offer free wine samples.

There will also be some great entertainment for people to enjoy.

Entry tickets are available at thevenue on the day and cost $25 per adult and $1 for every year of age for those aged between 5 and 18. Children under five are free.
