Ballina rescue: Car plunges into North Creek Canal
A man has been taken to Lismore Base Hospital after being rescued by fisherman from a submerged car in Ballina.

A Ballina man was rescued by passing fisherman after his car ended up in a canal on Monday.
Emergency services were called to Bagot Park on Canal Road at Ballina about 7am.
Ballina Surf Life Saving Club spokesman Chris Samuels said an older man was rescued from his sinking vehicle with the assistance of locals.
Paramedics treated the man and then took him to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition.
Richmond Police District duty officer Inspector Anthony Smith said the man had been rescued by passing fisherman and that his vehicle had gone into the water.
“It went in under the other side of the bridge and has sunk upstream,” Inspector Smith said.
“The vehicle is at the bottom of the river.
“We have tow trucks and crews here determining how to get it out,” he said.
