BAPTISTCARE Maranoa Centre in Alstonville is celebrating two honours this week.

Following the announcement that they were the joint National Winner in the Catering Innovation of the Year category of the OSCAR Aged Care Hospitality Awards, the centre has been announced as a Finalist in the Prime Super Employer Excellence in Aged Care Award.

The award forms part of the 2015 Regional Achievement and Community Awards for NSW and the ACT, recognising businesses and individuals who play a vital role in enhancing the social, environmental and economic prosperity of rural NSW and ACT communities.

BaptistCare Regional Operations Manager of the North/ Residential Division, Karen Waugh, said she was thrilled to see Maranoa Centre selected as one of four finalists in the prestigious award.

"Maranoa Centre has a strong record of community involvement and care for both our residents and staff," she said.

"We are committed to best practice in aged care and I believe this, coupled with our enthusiasm for the local area and a strong understanding of the community's needs, has created a great recipe for success."

The residential aged care centre employs 115 local staff and provides beds for 90 residents across all levels of care including dementia care and respite services.

It shares its location with BaptistCare Maranoa Village, as well as BaptistCare Home Services which offers in-home care to more than 200 clients across Alstonville and surrounding areas.

Mrs Waugh said the centre is continually striving for employer excellence.

"We have implemented an array of innovative projects in recent times that provide flexible working conditions and opportunities for staff, as well as training and wellbeing initiatives to offer support and acknowledge those staff members who go above and beyond for the centre," she said.

The award winners will be announced at the Awards Gala Presentation Dinner on Saturday November 14.
