Artworks Imagine Lismore's future

MORE than 120 student artworks depicting ideas about the future of the Lismore area are currently on exhibition at the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre.

MORE than 120 student artworks depicting ideas about the future of the Lismore area are currently on exhibition at the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Lismore Mayor Jenny Dowell said the works were entered into the 'Imagine Lismore' school art competition which is being held to give local young people an opportunity to share their ideas about the future they would like to see for their Local Government Area.

"The competition is part of the 'Imagine Lismore' community consultation project and I am delighted to say the artworks share a wonderful insight into what school students in our community really care about for their future," Councillor Dowell said.

"The exhibition, which includes all of the competition entries, is bright, colourful and diverse and I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and see the wonderful works and also to get involved and vote for the People's Choice Award.

"There will also be a Mayoral Award for first, second and third place, with the category winners to be announced on the final day of the exhibition on Tuesday, June 19.

"The exhibition is inspiring and I would like to thank all of the children who have shared their ideas through their drawings or paintings."

Entries have been received from Albert Park Public School, Our Lady Help of Christians, South Lismore, St Carthages, Lismore Heights Public School, Dunoon Public School and The Channon Public School.
