An extraordinary meeting of Tenterfield Shire Council will be held on Tuesday to consider appointing a new chief executive.
Former CEO Terry Dodds handed in his resignation notice at the end of 2020, in what mayor Peter Petty said was a “regrettable” situation.
“Terry left council in a very good place,” he said at the time.
“He developed a team of committed and capable managers sustained by a willing and engaged workforce.
“Council understands how important it is that staff continue to feel supported as the workload generated by the plethora of grant funding on top of the personal stresses of drought, fire and Covid continues to challenge everyone.”
The council immediately got to work to find Mr Dodds’ replacement.
A recruitment consultant was engaged to conduct the recruitment process and a selection panel, comprising all councillors, worked with the consultant.
Now the council is on the cusp of formally appointing someone to the position.
The extraordinary meeting on June 8 will be held at the RSL Pavilion from 9am, and has been called to “consider the appointment of the new chief executive”.
But the meeting will be closed to the public because the matter is “of a confidential nature”.
Minutes of the meeting and a recording of the declaration of the outcome will be available on the council’s website on Wednesday, June 9.
