NEWRYBAR'S Grace Moran is set to feature in a sexy new swimwear calendar, fostering her thrist for modelling stardom.

IT TAKES a lot of patience, a thick skin and a small mint of money to become the next Kate Moss.

Newrybar local Grace Moran has the first two and since last year has been slowly working her way up in the modelling world.

Miss Moran moved up from Old Bar, on the NSW Central Coast, to start a high school teaching degree at Southern Cross University in Lismore before she was forced to defer due to financial constraints.

It was a similar story when the 21-year-old thought about joining a modelling agency, but the costs that come with that are not cheap.

After being picked up by new modelling agency Forever Young Management (FYM), Miss Moran has managed to feature in her first swimsuit calendar shoot, FYM 2010-2011 Sexy Swimwear Calendar, which fostered her thirst for modelling stardom.

“It is so much fun and it would be great if it was an industry you could get a lot of work in,” she said.

“I think you need to have exposure and experience in order to show that you can be versatile and have what the agents need.

“I went to a couple of local agencies, but if you really want to be in it (the modelling industry) you have to be in a big agency. But I can’t afford that right now.

“I would love to get some more modelling happening if the opportunity arises. I would move anywhere, New York, Milan, I don’t care, anywhere to follow my passion to the end.”

The Super A-Mart employee admits she would love to concentrate on just modelling, but knows in the immediate future it might not always pay the rent.

Aside from her recent swimwear calendar shoot, Miss Moran featured in a tourism television advertisement for the NSW coastal town of Foster that she got through a casting process.

“There is a lot of competition,” she said.

“But there is so much to be done and so many ideas and concepts to be catered for that if you have that X-factor, then there will be something for you.”

The attitudes and glares from the competition are also something that comes with the modelling industry, but Miss Moran brushes off the hostility from other models as ‘just a reflection of their own insecurities’.

And as for the body, ‘a balance between work and play and being conscious about what you put into your body’ also helps in the pursuit of becoming the next Vogue magazine cover girl, Ms Moran says.
