Choosing a vaccination over a bottle of champagne after he won a $100,000 lottery prize is how an Alstonville man decided to celebrate his windfall.
The Alstonville resident who asked to remain anonymous said he would celebrate his $100,000 Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot win with a trip down to the GP to receive his Covid-19 vaccination.
The man won the $100,000 1st Prize in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10460, which was drawn on May 13.
He had an unregistered ticket and it was only when he went in to check his number that officials from The Lott could contact him and inform him of the happy result.
Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the overjoyed man said the win couldn’t have come at a better time.
“I’m in complete shock,” he said.
“When I found out, I thought I had just won $100!
“Not the first prize, there were a lot of zeros. I had to check twice.
“I’m a regular player of Lucky Lotteries, so I’m excited to see a big win come my way.”
When asked how he planned to celebrate his windfall today, the cheerful man said he already had his day planned.
“I’m going to get the COVID-19 shot,” he said.
“I also haven’t been on vacation for a while, so maybe I’ll do that, I’ve been wanting to visit Tasmania for a while and see some places.
“This is such great news.”
The happy winner purchased his winning entry of two consecutive numbers at Alstonville Newsagency at 79-83 Main Street in Alstonville.
Alstonville Newsagency owner Ray Smith said he was pleased for his Lucky Lotteries winner.
“We’re happy to hear that the prize had finally been claimed, especially to a regular,” Mr Smith said.
“Everyone had been coming in to check their tickets (and) we’ve had a big response.
“We even put something out on our social media pages to notify our customers to check their tickets.
“This is our first big prize that we’ve had and we hope to have many more.”
Mr Smith said he wants to remind his customers “to register your entries”.
“It makes things easier when there is a winner,” he said.
“This is great news.”
