A young Ballina musician is drawing comparisons to Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain

He sounds like the Nirvana frontman, and he looks like him - meet the young musician about to take the music world by storm.

Kade Paish, 14 of Coolgardie, has been likened to 90s rocker Kurt Cobain.

Kurt Cobain, the voice of disaffected youth in the 90s, may be gone, but there’s a new voice ringing out in the Ballina hinterland, and it sounds really familiar.

Kade Paish, a young musician honing his craft at Coolgardie, may only be 14, but he has already drawn comparisons to the legendary Nirvana frontman.

While he sounds similar, the 14-year-old is no cover artist, writing and recording original music at home, hoping to build a career in music.

The talented young man not only sings, plays guitar, bass, and drums on his songs, he also writes all of the parts.

“I have been playing guitar since I was 11, and drumming since I was eight,” Kade said.

“My dad plays, so I have grabbed a lot of music taste from my dad.”

His dad Josh, also a musician, was using his contacts and experience to help Kade forge a path in the music industry.

Nirvana was definitely an inspiration for Kade’s music, as was Blink 182 and Green Day, but Josh says Kade doesn’t try to sound like Cobain, “he just does, there’s not much you can do about it”.

And it’s not a bad problem to have.

Kade has started streaming his music and was working on a set with his dad that he hoped to play live sometime soon.
