A car was destroyed by fire in crash on the Pacific Hwy this morning

Emergency services are still on the scene of the incident that occurred south of Ballina this morning.

A car has been destroyed by fire after colliding with a truck south of Ballina this morning.

The drivers were able to escape the cars however.

A 36-year-old man was transported to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition with chest and rib injuries.

The incident occurred at about 6.40am on the Pacific Hwy near the intersection of McAndrews Lane at Pimlico.

The southbound lane of the highway remains closed as the vehicles are removed, but was expected to reopen soon.

The northbound lane remains open.
