$885,000 Drill Hall upgrade includes project to create the ‘trenches’

Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan announced $885,000 of funding for The Casino Drill Hall precinct.

Further development will transform a growing Northern Rivers site into a thriving community hub that pays tribute to our fallen soldiers.

Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan announced $885,000 of funding for the Casino Drill Hall precinct on Saturday.

“I am excited to announce this funding to construct the final piece of the precinct master plan,” Mr Hogan said.

“This funding will be used to construct a reflective memorial walkway titled The Trenches.

“The Trenches will create a tranquil space to reflect upon the tragedy of war, and those men and women who lost their lives in service.

“It will complement the $2.5 million Drill Hall site that was opened recently, and the upgrades to Coronation Park announced last year.”

Richmond Valley Council Mayor Robert Mustow said the revitalised site would be a great asset for residents and future generations.

“The community can be very proud of what has been achieved so far and I look forward to progressing with this next stage of the project,” Cr Mustow said.

“Set on the banks of the beautiful Richmond River, the Drill Hall site already includes a new visitor information centre, a contemporary amphitheatre, an RV and caravan carpark, walkways and landscaping, and the Northern Rivers Military Museum.

“The revitalised park will be a great place for families and visitors to appreciate one of Casino’s natural wonders in the Richmond River, and enjoy a wonderful public space.”
