A 46-year old man who allegedly stole items from flood-affected homes in Lismore has been charged with larceny of up to $15,000 after he was located in Clunes, 18 km north of Lismore.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District commenced inquiries after receiving reports the driver of a red Toyota Prado was travelling through the Lismore area earlier this month, loading items into a trailer.

Following investigations, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Bangalow Road, Clunes, about 8.20am Friday March 18.

An air compressor, window blinds, and vinyl rolls of floor coverings were among the items that were seized by police.

Four people – three men and a woman – were arrested and taken to Ballina Police Station.

Police said the 46-year old was charged with larceny value between $5000 and $15000 and goods in custody suspected of being stolen.

The man was granted conditional bail and will appear at Ballina Local Court on Thursday 12 May 2022.

The remaining three people were charged with unrelated offences.
