Leila Abdallah’s prayers for helicopter crash victim Nicholas Tadros

The mother of the three Abdallah siblings who were killed by a drunk driver has contacted the man whose son is on life support after surviving the Sea World helicopter crash.

The mother of the three Abdallah siblings who were killed by a drunk driver has contacted the man whose son is on life support after surviving the Sea World helicopter crash.

Sydney mother Vanessa Tadros and her son Nicholas, 10, were passengers on a joy flight in a helicopter when it collided mid-air with another chopper next to the Gold Coast theme park on Monday.

Ms Tadros died when their helicopter crashed, but Nicholas survived.

He remains in hospital on life support as of Thursday.

Simon Tadros, Ms Tadros’ husband and Nicholas’ father, had asked people to pray for his “little man” to survive so he could be with him.

Leila Abdallah, whose three children were killed by a drunk driver in Oatlands in northwest Sydney in 2020, saw Mr Tadros’ appeal and spoke to him on the phone for about 30 minutes on Thursday.

She said she would pray for Mr Tadros and Nicholas.

“It took me back to our tragedy … I know he’s been asking for prayers, I’m going to go to Mass and I’m going to pray for his son’s recovery,” she told The Daily Telegraph.

“He was asking for everyone to pray, pray, pray — he wants all the prayers he can get.

“I told him how I can relate to him. He needs to be with his son and, at the same time, he needs to organise the funeral for his wife.”

Ms Abdallah and the Tadros family are both members of Sydney’s Middle Eastern Christian community, and their relatives come from the same area in Lebanon.

She said Mr Tadros was turning to his faith for support.

“He’s a man of strong faith, all he wants is for people to pray for him — you can see God is next to him,” she said.
