Leeton: Police raids lead to two men charged, one with theft of 15 guns and another with drug offences

A man has been charged with stealing 15 guns and another arrested on drugs charges as part of sweeping police raids to crackdown on firearm theft in southern NSW.
On Tuesday, June 4, officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District conducted searches at nine locations around Leeton, operating under Strike Force Kilnyana.
The strike force was set up in May to investigate the alleged theft of firearms in area.
As part of the searches, officers found a 28-year-old man who upon seeing officers, fled on foot, but was caught a short time later on Sycamore Street.
He was taken to Leeton Police Station where he was charged with two counts of prohibited drug supply and two counts of prohibited drug possession.
The man was refused bail and is to appear before Griffith Local Court on Wednesday June 19.
Later that week, about 4.15pm on Saturday, officers involved in the same strike force raided a property on Gidgee St Leeton where a 31-year-old man was arrested and charged for break and enter and for 15 counts of firearm theft.
The man was refused bail and appeared before Wagga Wagga Local Court.
He was refused bail to reappear before Griffith Local Court on Wednesday June 12.
