Police are investigating if a man has been the target of two firebombings in three months, after men in balaclavas set alight to the garage of a waterfront home and destroyed two cars worth close to $500,000.
Billy Blazevski, 25, was known to be staying at the luxury Hunters Hill home that is believed to have been targeted by arsonists who threw a Molotov cocktail into the garage about 4.15am on Monday.
The Daily Telegraph understands the blaze comes after another home linked to Mr Blazevski at St Johns Park, in the city’s far west, was also firebombed in October.
NSW Police detectives are now investigating why Mr Blazevski has been targeted in similar fashion twice recently, however it is understood he has so far been unwilling to assist them.
The fire destroyed two cars parked in the garage, a Lamborghini Huracan worth $380,000 and a brand new Tesla - which belonged to Instagram influencer Taylor Jayne “TJ” Touma, who lives at the home with another man, her boyfriend.
Ms Touma, who regularly shares glimpses of her lavish life and multiple successful business ventures with her 57,000 followers on Instagram, was also remaining tight lipped about the arson attack.
“I don’t want to talk about the fire,” she said, when called by The Daily Telegraph.
Ms Touma posted a photo of herself with the Tesla on the day she got it just ten weeks ago, before sharing a video from the inside of the car.
But when fire crews arrived at the home, which has a pool, gym, four bedrooms and five bathrooms, and overlooks the picturesque Tarban Creek, there was no chance of saving it or the $380,000 Lamborghini.
Fireys managed to extinguish the blaze within 30 minutes and prevented it spreading down to other parts of the sprawling home.
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Mr Blazevski or Ms Touma.
Police remained at the home throughout the day, speaking with real estate agents and neighbours about what they saw.
It is understood one resident saw several dark figures running from the scene, while police sources said the fact CCTV had shown those men wearing black gloves and black balaclavas, indicated it was a targeted attack.
The garage door was almost completely burned down in the fire, which burned through the roofs of the two cars to expose their insides.
NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman Adam Dewberry said it was lucky no one was injured in the fire.
“Three aerial platforms supported fire crews in breathing apparatus as they attacked the seat of the blaze and prevented it spreading to an adjacent hammer mill,” a NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman said.
“The cause of the fire is being determined.”
Police sources said it was believed an explosive, similar to a molotov cocktail, had been used to cause the blaze.
