SYDNEY Swans captain Kieren Jack’s girlfriend is at the centre of a bitter family feud that hit rock bottom yesterday when the AFL star banned his parents from attending his 200th game on Friday.
His father, NRL great Garry Jack, and his wife Donna have been left shocked and saddened by the extraordinary snub, telling him “family is what gets you there”.
Model and Nine News producer Charlotte Goodlet, who recently moved from Perth to be with Kieren, last night refused to shed any light on the reasons for her rift with Donna.
“I’m really sorry but I can’t make any comment,” an emotional Goodlet told The Daily Telegraph.
Ms Goodlet, a 2013 finalist in the Miss Universe Australia pageant, has been the partner of Kieren Jack for three years.
But it is understood Kieren’s parents do not approve of the relationship and have made their feelings known to Swans officials.
But the long-running private dispute became public yesterday when Donna Jack scolded her son in a tweet for not wanting his parents to attend Friday’s match.
Donna tweeted “@kjack_15 so sad. Dad 200 RL you 200 AFL & you dont want us there, your parents. No appreciation for all the yrs helping you get there’’.
Sources close to the club said the rift between Kieren and his parents has been ongoing for more than 12 months.
In March, Donna tweeted “@kjack_15 @sydneyswans isnt it time as Captain you practised what you preach. Family is what gets you there, dont ever forget that’’.
But the family dispute has reached a tipping point with Kieren banning his parents from attending his memorable milestone game against Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Friday.
Sources close to the club have also claimed Kieren’s parents have had issues with his brother Brandon who has apparently sided with Kieren and has requested Garry leave the Swans reserves change room. A Swans official said the club provides two flights and tickets to the match which are allocated to Kieren and that Garry and Donna are free to attend any matches they wish to.
The Jacks’ middle son Rhys appears to have sided with his parents, liking a number of his mother’s tweets about Kieren.
Kieren Jack said the matter was private and he would not be making any comment when approached by The Telegraph.
Attempts to contact Garry Jack last night were unsuccessful.
“It’s a sad situation when parents allow their relationship with two of their children to deteriorate to this level,” a close family friend said.
“Kieren and Brandon have done everything they can to make their parents proud but it seems nothing is ever good enough.
“Sometimes parents find it hard to let their children stand on their own two feet and make decisions for themselves.’’
