Australian singer Kamahl has announced how he will vote in the upcoming Voice referendum in satirical fashion.
The Malaysian-born entertainer changed the lyrics of John Farnham’s iconic song ‘You’re The Voice’, to words that matched his political view.
“What’s the voice, I just don’t understand it. It’s just noise and it’s not clear. Vote no-o-oh-oh,” the lyrics shared by the 88-year-old on his X account read.
“We’re not going to vote Apartheid. We don’t want one race privilege. Vote no-o-oh-oh.”
He claimed a lack of clarity has forced him to vote no.
“I’m voting NO because I don’t understand it,” his caption read.
He later reshared the edited lyrics on his official X account while also promoting a song he recorded back in 1988.
Kamahl said on X if his followers wanted to know why he is voting No, it was because of his song What is Australia to me.
“It’s the song I recorded in 1988, but nobody listened! Please listen to it now. It’s not too late! It’s on YouTube!”
The popular entertainer drew mixed responses from hundreds of users.
“Give it a rest old man,” user Vifjin66 said.
“How can I rest, even as an old man, when I cannot TRUST those I should?” Kamahl replied.
“Amazing! Well done,” This Fernandez Rocks commented.
“Australia’ is nothing to you if you can’t respect our Indigenous,” Geoffro vented.
“Great song,” another user added.
“Another national treasure is voting NO. Thanks Kamal,” Lisa Sophia commented.

Australia is heading to the polls on October 14 to vote in the first referendum since 1999. Aussies will be asked to vote on this question: “A proposed law: To alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?”
If the Yes vote wins, work will begin on the details of the Voice, including who will be on the panel, how they will be chosen and how it will work.
The Voice will provide independent advice to parliament and government and will be chosen by First Nations people, based on the wishes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
