Criminal Groups Squad detectives have a granted warrant and are hunting for the brother of alleged Sydney drug lord Mostafa Baluch.
Imran Baluch, a 27-year-old from the western suburbs, is wanted by virtue of an outstanding warrant in relation to drug supply-related offences.
Officers from the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad established Strike Force Nyinya to investigate alleged drug supply by an Organised Criminal Network (OCN).
As part of ongoing inquiries, strike force detectives applied for and were granted a warrant for the arrest of Imran Baluch last Thursday.
Detectives have information to suggest Imran Baluch is overseas in Lebanon, but as inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
In February, Imran Baluch admitted himself to hospital after he was shot in the legs in broad daylight.
The injuries he received were not life threatening and he was later released from Westmead Hospital.
The Baluch family are well known restaurateurs who have been operating on the northern beaches for decades.
For a short time, Mostafa Baluch, 35, was one of Australia’s most wanted men after he is alleged to have cut his ankle bracelet after his parents had put up their Sydney mansion as bail.
Mostafa Baluch had been granted bail for allegedly being a major player in an attempt to import 900 kilograms of cocaine into Australia, worth an estimated $270m.
After allegedly cutting off his ankle bracelet, 36-year-old Mostafa Baluch was caught on the Gold Coast hiding in a Mercedes Benz being transported inside a shipping container on the back of a truck.
