How to get to ANZ Stadium for the NRL grand final

With 80,000 footy fans expected to descend on ANZ Stadium at for the league grand final showdown between the Raiders and Roosters, here’s a guide on the best way to get there and what to expect on the day.

It’s that time of the year again footy fans! The NRL grand final is back, with the Canberra Raiders set to take on the Sydney Roosters at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.

While many will be watching it at home or at the pub, up to 80,000 fans will be watching it live at Sydney Olympic Park.

Transport NSW recommends catch public transport to get to and from the venue. Here’s a guide to how to get there and what’s happening on the day.

Gates open: 1.15pm

NRL State Championship 2019 kick-off: 1.35pm

NRL Women’s Premiership Grand Final 2019 kick-off: 4.10pm

Entertainment start: 6.30pm

NRL Grand Final Kick-off: 7.20pm

Full-time: 9.20pm

TICKETS

Valid pre-purchased match tickets to the grand final include public transport travel to and from the venue for Sydney Train services; Sydney Metro; Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses; regular bus services; Sydney and Newcastle ferries; and Sydney and Newcastle Light Rail services.

HOW TO GET TO ANZ STADIUM

Train: There will be additional express and limited-stops train services to Olympic Park on grand final day. From Central, there will express services every 10-15 minutes from 12.30-3pm and then every 7 to 8 minutes from 3-9pm, stopping at Redfern, Strathfield then Olympic Park.

From Penrith, Express services will run every 30 minutes from 12.30-8.30pm, stopping all stations to Blacktown, Seven Hills, Westmead, Parramatta, Granville, Lidcombe and Olympic Park.

Commuters can also catch a train to Lidcombe and go to Platform Zeros for a direct train to Lidcombe, which will run every 10 minutes until 9.30pm.

Buses: Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses will run every 5 to 10 minutes between 12- 12.50pm, depending on which of the nine routes you take. Click here for the list of routes.

Sydney Buses services to Sydney Olympic Park include: Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Burwood via Sydney Olympic Park; Route 526 runs from the Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf to Olympic Park; Route 533 runs from Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Rhodes and North Ryde.

Coaches: Murrays Coaches will operate an hourly service from Canberra to Sydney’s Central Station and return. For more info or to buy a ticket, visit Murrays Coaches express services.

Uber and ride share services: A ride-share pick up zone will operate from P6 car park on the corner of Australia Ave and Murray Rose Ave.

WEATHER FORECAST

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a partly cloudy day on Sunday, with light winds of up to 40km/h during the morning. The forecast is a minimum of 14C and maximum of 24C, with only a 10 per cent chance of rain.
