LIFE is never dull when you’re a firefighter but even by those lofty standards yesterday the excitement really heated up for Alan Fritsch.
The hero firey saved a family from a blaze in Sydney’s northwest yesterday morning and as soon as he was done there he rushed off to hospital to see his baby daughter born.
Mr Fritsch’s wife Stacey went into labour while he was tackling the flames at The Ponds. So after being part of a team that rescued a father and two of his children from the flames he raced from the scene to see the birth of little Page.
“It’s a very exciting day,” he said.
Firefighters were called to the Mitta Way home about 7.45am after reports of smoke pouring from the brick building’s roof and upper windows.
A man, aged in his 40s, and his three children were at home when the fire broke out, with the father and two older siblings trapped upstairs as thick smoke filled the house.
The two teenage siblings were forced to climb out onto the balcony and onto the first floor roof. Fireys then managed to rescue the man from the second level.
