Winning is better when you’re a team

Ally Tullipan and Dave Ferguson took out the Telstra Best Dressed Couple section of Fashions on the Field.

WINNING a Fashions on the Field event has been a lifelong dream for Grafton woman Ally Tullipan.

Standing alongside her partner, Dave Ferguson, as they took out the Telstra Best Dressed Couple section together made it even better.

The pair, who met 12 years ago, said they watched the fashions events at the July Racing Carnival each year, and a few years ago took the plunge and stepped up to the stage themselves.

This year it was matching black and grey tones and pops of orange/red that won over the judges.

Ms Tullipan said most of her accessories - namely her red gloves, grey cape and millinery - were designed by Wicked Dame Vintage Design, and worn with a Kardashian Kollections dress.

Mr Ferguson complemented her look with a suit and red tie.

"I picked up the tie but he chose it; he loves fashion as well," she said.

"We both love getting dressed up and this is our only chance to get dressed up like this other than weddings."

Judging by the cheers when their number was called out, it was clear they were crowd favourites.

"We know a lot of people in Grafton," Ms Tullipan said.

"I'm so thrilled. I've been taking my children here for about 15 years and it's always been a dream."
