TAFE online to fulfil demands

WITH a growing demand for online, mobile and workplace delivery, North Coast TAFE this week launched a specific online offering to cater for the demand.

WITH a growing demand for online, mobile and workplace delivery, North Coast TAFE this week launched a specific online offering to cater for the demand.

North Coast TAFE Institute director, Elizabeth McGregor, said as well as delivering a range of benefits for "people who want their studies to fit their lifestyle at a time that suits them", TAFEnow has created 20 new jobs across the north coast.

"These jobs include instructional designers, content writers, online facilitators, technology specialists and online customer service and support roles," Ms McGregor said.

Ms McGregor said the online channel enabled customers to set their own timetables, start a course within hours of enrolling, study on their mobile phones or tablets and still have access to support services six days a week to assist them with educational or technical aspects.

TAFEnow was launched by Honourable Chris Gulaptis MP at Grafton TAFE Campus, with local business and TAFE staff in attendance.

Mr Gulaptis said the NSW government expected TAFE to deliver a broad range of courses that were widely accessible, and that TAFEnow was clearly delivering on this.

"It's great to be here today to celebrate one of the ways North Coast TAFE is changing - providing new study options and new kinds of jobs in the process," Mr Gulaptis said.

Ms McGregor emphasised that "the Clarence community can be confident that TAFE is here for the long haul".
