King of the Country rugby and National Championship hockey livestreams

Watch Yamba rugby duo and contingent of Grafton hockey stars live on the representative stage.

Several talented rising sport stars of the Clarence Valley are involved in multiple tournaments across the country currently being exclusively livestreamed by NewsCorp.

The region’s best junior rugby union stars are representing Far North Coast at the inaugural King of the Country at the Gold Coast, while several hockey players are representing NSW sides at national hockey tournaments at Launceston and Bathurst.

The three-day rugby union tournament started today and features U13, U14 and U15sides from south east Queensland and northern NSW.

Included in the Far North Coast squads are Yamba outside backs Tui Simpson (U14) and Peter Hammond (U13s), who were both singled out as players to watch in the official tournament preview.

Simpson plays on the wing and was described as one of the best finishers in the game who plays like an extra fullback and is capable of being the difference in tight games.

Meanwhile Hammond plays fullback and is described as a raw talent with lightning quick speed.

The Australian U18 Boys and Girls Hockey Championships started in Launceston on Thursday and continues for nine days culminating in the finals next Friday, April 16.

The NSW sides have strong representation from Grafton including sisters Ashleigh Ensbey in the NSW State U18 Girls, and her sister Mackenna Ensbey in the NSW Blues U18 Girls.

Both sides opened up with losses in their first matches on Thursday, while NSW Blues played out a scoreless draw with Northern Territory earlier this morning and NSW State takes on the Victoria Development side at 5.30pm this afternoon. Check out the full draw here

The NSW State U18 Boys features Grafton duo Tyler Gaddes and Rhys Cropper.

NSW State won its opening games 3-0 v South Australia and 7-0 v Victoria Development Squad, and face off against Victoria in their next match on Saturday. Check out the full draw here

Gaddes is listed as the side’s captain, while Cropper was labelled one of the ‘NSW players to watch’ in the official tournament preview.

Meanwhile the Australian Under-15 Boys and Girls Hockey Championships started at Bathurst today and continue until next Thursday, April 15.

Martina Williams in NSW State U15 Girls is the lone representative from the Grafton area at the tournament. She scored the second goal in the side’s 3-0 opening win against Northern Territory today and will lien up against the Victoria Development side in her next match at 8.20am on Saturday before taking on ACT at 3.30pm.
