An unbelievable string of achievements on the hockey field has catapulted Ashleigh Ensbey into contention to be named the Clarence Valley Junior Female Sportsperson of the Year.
The 17-year-old from Lawrence represented the NSW State side which finished 8th at the National Under-18 Girls Hockey Championships at Launceston in April.
In May she captained the Grafton side to victory at the NSW Under-18 Girls Division Two titles.
The following week she captained the North Coast team which won its first NSW CHS Open Girls title in 26 years after beating Hunter, who had won the past five years. Ash was also named Player of the Carnival, and selected in the NSW Combined High Schools team to play a Tri-Series against Combined Catholic Colleges and Combined Independent Schools in July.
In June she was also selected for the NSW Under-21 squad after playing at the NSW Open Championships for Coffs Harbour.
As a result of her outstanding achievements, Ashleigh has been voted the GSW Junior Sportsperson of the Month, and becomes a finalist for GSW Junior Female Sportsperson of the Year to be named at the 2021 Clarence Valley Sports Awards at Bowlo Sport and Leisure Yamba in November.
The Clarence Valley Sports Awards are organised by the Clarence Valley Sports Councils and supported by The Daily Examiner and Grafton Shoppingworld.
