Williams scored a double for NSW in their 5-3 win over Western Australia Gold in the Under-15 Girls gold medal match on Thursday.

The feat took her tally to eight goals for the tournament - equal most with Queensland Maroon’s Sophia Papantoniou - which included a hattrick in a 5-0 win over Queensland Gold on Wednesday to ensure NSW finished top of Pool B.

NSW Girls coach James Birkfield was delighted with the effort of his charges.

“They have faced some adversity this week, injury and tough games so I couldn’t be happier,’’ he said.

“They have been great. It’s been their togetherness and the fact they have benne willing to stick to the processes that has worked.”

Meanwhile NSW also won the Boys section of the Under-15s at Bathurst on Thursday, defeating Tasmania 4-2 in the final.

In Launceston on Friday, NSW trailed Western Australia Gold 1-0 deep into the third quarter before Cropper found an equaliser, and Goulburn’s Fletcher Craig banged home the 2-1 winner with seven minutes remaining.

WA Gold had an excellent chance to score in the dying seconds, but the shot in front of goal was miscued, and soon scenes of ruptorous celebrations broke out among the boys in sky blue.

The Under-18 Girls was the only division a team other than NSW stood at the top of the podium, with Queensland victorious over Victoria 2-1 in a shootout after scores were level at 2-2 at the end of regular time.

NSW State had to settle for eighth after losing their playoff match against South Australia, upstaged by the younger outfit of NSW Blue, who also lost their playoff match to Tasmania to finish sixth.
